Aaron's Sports History Highlights
Snowboarding was developed primarily from surfing and skateboarding, and was the fastest-growing winter sport of the 1980s and 1990s. Competitive snowboarding has both an Alpine component, with racing through gates, and a freestyle component that is similar to competitions in skateboard parks. Snowboarding World Cup competitions started to be held in the season 1994-95, and snowboarding made its Olympic debut at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.
