Scottie Pippen (1965- ) was born in Hamburg, Arkansas. Pippen, a forward, earned admiration for the variety of his talents. In the 1990s he consistently ranked among the NBA leaders in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals.
The Seattle SuperSonics selected Pippen in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft and immediately traded him to the Chicago Bulls. Pippen earned a spot as the starting forward for the Bulls during his second year, the 1988-89 season. Pippen and acclaimed guard Michael Jordan helped lead the Bulls to six NBA championship titles (1991-1993, 1996-1998). In the 1995-96 season the Bulls also became the first NBA team to win 70 or more games in a season, finishing with 72 victories. Pippen was a member of the United States basketball team known as the Dream Team, which won gold medals at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, and the 1996 Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Pippen played in the NBA All-Star Game in 1990 and from 1992 to 1997. He was elected most valuable player (MVP) of the 1994 All-Star Game.
