Curtis Martin (1973- ) He is a premier running back who signed with the Jets as a restricted free agent in 1998 following three years with the New England Patriots. This marked the first time the Jets signed a restricted free agent to an offer sheet. His 1,287 yards placed him second in team history for most yards rushing in a season and his 1,652 total yards from scrimmage placed him second all time in team history for total yards from scrimmage. Has piled up 6,550 yards through five years in the NFL.
He is the fifth player (along with Terrell Davis, Denver) in NFL history to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing in each of his first four seasons. Earned trips to the Pro Bowl in 1995 and 1996 and as an alternate when Davis fell to injury in 1998. He has started 43 of 45 career NFL games. Has gone over the 100-yard mark 14 times in his career including a career-high 199 vs. the Jets last year. He ranks fourth on the Patriots all-time rushing list.
